InterPlay is a creative, active way to unlock the wisdom of your body. Experience an approach to life that expands possibilities and transforms communities.
This weekend Annelies and I attended an Untensive beach retreat at the Trinity Center in Pine Knoll Shores on Emerald Isle. Tom Henderson and Ginny Going, founders of InterPlay North Carolina , organized a wonderful weekend of great fun, beautiful dance, and gifted people. More than twenty-five playmates came from NC, SC, GA, FL, and DC. We had a greatl time playing with others through free-form movement.
“InterPlay is based in a series of incremental “forms” that lead participants to movement and stories, silence and song, ease and amusement. In the process, we unlock the wisdom of our bodies and the wisdom in our communities.”
We shared stories, intersected space, sang, hummed, danced, drummed, leaned on one-another, and shared a safe, creative, trusting, and loving play space for grown ups. Friday night we connected with friend, actor and director Judy Long for drinks and a lighting show on the roof deck of her home. Taking advantage of the open, loose schedule, Annelies and I played hookie on Saturday afternoon to enjoy the beach, swim in the ocean, swing in the hammock and share a nap before dinner. Torrential downpours on the drive down and back were simply added bonuses of natural beauty in a weekend of relaxation with friends. We even managed an impromptu hoop and drum session in the parking lot of Eli’s Drive-Thru in Morehead City on the way home! It was wonderful to see Annelies share a bindi with a young girl named Lauren who hooped with us, but then cried when told it was time to go. You simply never know when you’ll have the opportunity to connect....
